Flora Gomes is a strong figure in the Guinean-Bissau cinema field. Besides being the second director to have the second feature film made in Guinea-Bissau with "Mortu Nega" which won a prize at Fespaco. Gomes has a long path as a filmmaker. Born in 1949, he study filmmaking in Cuba and perfected his craft under the supervision of other great filmmakers such as Paulin Vieyra and Chris Marker. He came back to his country to continue filmmaking, using his country as the main scene for his stories. He filmed the country's Independence to his greatest pride and continued With films such as "Udju Azul di Yonta", "Po Di Sangui" and "Nha Fala".
