PORTRAIT OF:ISAACH DE BANKOLÉ
Born in Abidjan in 1957, to Yoruba parents from Benin. Isaach de Bankolé left for France in his last year of high school to pursue his studies. It was in the streets of Paris that he was discovered by Gérard Vergez and his transition into acting started from there. After attending the drama school the Cours Simon, he left abruptly after he was told he couldn't perform in play because it wasn't white. After landing extra roles in a few movies, Isaach would finally starred in 'BLACK MIC MAC' in 1986 Directed by Thomas Gilou. This would be the film that would earn him his first César for promising actor in 1987 and cement his ascension in the acting industry. ISAAC would go on to appear in various international movies such as CHOCOLAT, THE LIMITS OF CONTROL, OTOMO, RUN & BLACK PANTHER.
