Sidiki Bakaba represents an example of actors and creators who have seen it all and done it all. From theatre to films, documentaries, and TV. Trying to encapsulate the long and rich career of Bakaba into a single article would be a disservice to the man and his talent, but we may try for the cause. Born in 1949 in Abengourou, Sidiki Bakaba would start his career on the stage and play theatre roles at the National School of Drama of Abidjan. Soon after, he would then ascend into acting and work with notorious directors from France and West Africa. Sidiki Bakaba being a bright and multi-faceted personality would extend his career into screenwriting for the stage as well as for cinema around the 80s. His work would grant him wild acclaim at the 1989 FESPACO for "Les Guérisseurs". In 2000 he will be appointed as the director of the Palace of Culture of Abidjan (Palais de la Culture d'Abidjan). Sidiki would eventually go on to create more films and stage scenarios. Today, he's regarded as a pioneer and respected figure in the Ivoirian culture and dramatic arts scene.
